Suitable for

Wooden garden products made from thermowood such as terrace boards, wooden decks and garden furniture, also suitable for larch and exotic wood. Pigmented Deck Oil for Thermowood is based on renewable resources and is thermowood brown in color when dry. Deck Oil for Thermowood protects, preserves and impregnates. After treatment the surface is highly water-repellent, weather and UV-resistant and protected against graying for a long time.

Product Characteristics
Consumption

Approximately 60-70 ml/m², meaning 1 liter of Deck Oil for Thermowood is enough for approximately 15m² per coat, depending on the kind of wood and surface (planed or rough-sawn). Corrugated wood can increase consumption(factor 2-3). Lower consumption affects durability of the coat.

Storage

Cool, but frost free.

Cleaning

Clean tools with thinner or turpentine substitute immediately after use.

Refined natural oils such as soybean and sunflower oil, isoaliphates, natural waxes, lead-free drying agents, pentanonoxime, iron oxide pigments.

Important notices

To avoid skin contact use suitable gloves (nitrile). Wear a dust mask when sanding. Safety data sheet available on request. If medical advice is needed, keep packaging or label handy. Keep out of the reach of children. Read carefully and follow all instructions. When using multiple containers with different batch numbers mix them together in a bigger container. Dispose of contents / container according to local / regional / national / international guidelines. ASN: 080111 EU limit for this product (A/f): 700 g/l. This product contains a maximum of 600 g/l VOC.

Usage and Application
Application/Use
  • The untreated, sanded, wooden substrate has to be clean, dry and free of dust and grease.
  • Processing temperature (including drying) above + 8 °C. Wood humidity < 18%.
  • Remove graying from and neutralize wood with an appropriate detergent beforehand.
  • Treat softwood (risk of fungi) in exteriors with an appropriate impregnation primer before applying the first coat.
  • Woods with a particularly high content of wood components should be weathered for about 4 weeks prior to initial treatment. Fresh, pressure-treated wood like massaranduba, garapa, ipe should be weathered for about 3 months prior to the initial treatment.
  • Drying takes approximately 12-24 hours (depending on the weather).
  • Stir contents well before and during use.
  • Works differently depending on surface characteristics. Apply a trial coat first.
  • Adhere to rules of constructive wood preservation.
  • Apply oil thinly and evenly - avoid layer formation and collect excess oil.

Apply Deck Oil for Thermowood twice to dry wood (apply to end grain until it stops absorbing). Can be painted over after 12-24 hours. Later on always paint over Deck Oil for Thermowood using the same product.
