As a certified B Corporation and winner of the German Sustainability Award 2024, we set benchmarks in the ecological transformation of the chemical industry. Our goal: to create products and processes that protect and benefit people and the environment alike.

You can always do better. These four principles shape our philosophy.

Responsible product development

Our products are made from natural, regional raw materials and undergo rigorous testing for environmental compatibility and health protection. We consider the entire life cycle of our products – from raw material extraction through production to application – and always strive for the best balance between functionality and sustainability.

Our approach and how we pursue it.

    Binding standards for sustainable development

We are guided by international standards such as ISO 26000 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Since 2019, we have been transparently documenting our progress and subjecting our CO2 reduction targets to validation by the Science Based Targets Initiative. Our company statutes anchor the purpose of having a positive impact on the common good and the environment.

As only the second paint manufacturer worldwide, PNZ is a certified B corporation.

    Research for a CO2-negative future

With the Carbon2Coatings project, we work together with partners such as the Max Planck Institute to capture atmospheric CO2 and integrate it into wood coatings. Our goal: CO2-negative products that actively contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases. This open source project is intended to benefit the entire industry.

Carbon chemistry made from CO2 out of the atmosphere. That is the goal of a long-term project with several scientific partners.
