PNZ Exterior Wood Varnish

High-performance protection for outdoors. Protects your wood against fungi and UV-rays. Sustainably produced with regional raw materials.

Suitable for

Any wood in exteriors that is exposed to climatic influences for example log cabins, facade claddings, fences, balcony cladding, windows, garden houses, garage doors, picket fences, etc. Exterior Wood Varnish is a humidity regulating, open-pore, transparent and UV-resistant wood preserver (use transparent variant only in combination with a pigmented coat). Our product is nearly odorless, easy to use, penetrates well and effective against organisms like algae and fungi due to the pearling effect.

Product Characteristics

Consumption

Approximately 70-80 ml/m², meaning 1 liter of Exterior Wood Varnish is enough for approximately 12 m² per application, depending on the kind of wood and surface (planed or rough-sawn). Corrugated wood can increase consumption (factor 2-3). Lower consumption affects durability of the coat.

Storage

Cool, but frost free.

Cleaning

Clean tools with thinner or turpentine substitute immediately after use.

Refined natural oils such as soybean and sunflower oil, isoaliphates, natural waxes, lead- and cobalt-free drying agents, pentanonoxime, iron oxide pigments and titanium dioxide.

Important notices

Safety data sheet available on request. Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Wear a dust mask when sanding. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Keep out of reach of children. Read carefully and follow all instructions. To avoid skin contact use suitable gloves (nitrile). Do not use the shades “natural” or “transparent” outdoors by themselves as these offer no UV protection. When using multiple containers with different batch numbers mix them together in a bigger container. Dispose of contents / container according to local / regional / national / international guidelines. ASN: 080111. EU limit for this product (A/f): 700 g/l. This product contains a maximum of 600 g/l VOC.

Usage and Application

Application/Use

Surface has to be clean, dry and free of dust and grease.
Woods with a particularly high content of wood components should be weathered for about 4 weeks prior to initial treatment. Fresh, pressure-treated wood like massaranduba, garapa, ipe should be weathered for about 3 months prior to the initial treatment.
Processing temperature (including drying) above + 8°C. Wood humidity < 18%. Air humidity < 60%.
Treat softwood (risk of fungi) in exteriors with an appropriate impregnation primer before applying the first coat.
Works differently depending on surface characteristics. Apply a trial coat first.
Stir contents well before and during use.
If possible, apply once on all sides before assembly.

Exterior Wood Varnish can be applied by hand or machine. New coat: apply 2-3 times by brush, roller or immersion. Apply first coat before assembly if possible. Apply on all sides. Let dry for at least 12 hours. Then apply second/third coat as outlined to the visible surface. Refurbishment coat: Remove old, not load bearing coats. Clean old, load bearing coat and apply Exterior Wood Varnish once or twice as outlined.
